Together we can make a difference.
This spring, Mounds View High School DECA and H2O for Life Club partnered to host a community Walk for Water, raising awareness about the Global Water Crisis and funding a water well for a school in need.
The Mounds View High School community gathered at the MVHS track on Saturday, May 11th to enjoy a fun afternoon supporting a global cause. The walk featured a raffle with many great prizes including gift cards, water bottles, free food certificates, and more! Participants of all ages were challenged to walk a 5K while carrying water in order to simulate the water collection process that many women and children must complete every day. Thanks to the efforts and donations of the entire community, we raised over $2300 in one week, nearly doubling our original goal!
There is a global water crisis.
1 in 3 schools worldwide have no access to clean water
A child dies every 20 seconds due to lack of access to clean water
Women and children worldwide spend 200 million hours each day collecting drinking water. Children who spend their day collecting water instead of going to school are unable to get a proper education and create a better future for themselves.
